Thank you for visiting For the Love of Squats and Squash! Or as I like to simply call it, Squats and Squash 🙂
About the Blog
I started this blog in April of 2012 as a way to share my thoughts, recipes, and exercise tips with friends as well as connect with other bloggers out there with similar interests. I’m hoping to grow as both a blogger and a person through sharing my world with…the world!
I have high hopes of creating healthy meals that taste great. Sometimes I achieve these hopes, sometimes I do not, but I will blog about both experiences equally. Pinky.
I’ll also share the ups and downs of marriage (I recently married my husband, Preston, in December of 2011), my job, and my quest to convince said husband to get a dog.
Seriously, who WOULDN’T want one?
My name’s Melissa. I live in Texas (no, I don’t ride a horse to work and no, I do not personally know Walker, Texas Ranger). I’m 26 years old, trying to figure out life, marriage, and finding balance between food and fitness. I graduated from Texas A&M in 2008 with my BBA in Marketing, followed by grad school (also at A&M) for my Masters in Marketing. Currently I work as a Marketing Coordinator (what, were you going to guess Accountant?) for a non-profit company, which I love!
Oh, and I really, really want a dog.
Me on my favorite day 🙂
Not real, don’t worry 🙂
Just relaxing in NYC
About the Hubs
I married the BEST guy I’ve ever known on December 3, 2011. So far, being married is the bees knees 🙂 We dated for almost exactly 3 years before tying the knot. We did the whole meet-in-college thing, but here’s the catch: I’m the older woman 😉 Ha! We met when I stuck around for grad school, and he was just a baby undergrad 🙂 Currently, he works hard as an estimator (something to do with numbers and money) and is GREAT at what he does. I’m very very blessed!

Maui Honeymoon! Aloha!
He’s pretty dreamy.
Squats and Squash??
Let’s be real…coming up with a blog name is tough stuff. I just went with a combination of my favorite exercise and my favorite food…and voila! Squats and Squash was born. I also have a pretty bangin recipe for squash casserole that I just may share one day with all of you… 🙂
As a sidenote (a very IMPORTANT sidenote), please let it be known that I am in NO way trying to pass as a dietician, nutritionist, or even personal trainer. What I write on my blog are my own thoughts, opinions, and suggestions. It’s what works for ME, but that may not be best for YOU. Please remember that as you read along 🙂
